DESIGN

The first thing you notice about this Oris BC3 Day Date is how clearly the dial is arranged. Large, pale Arabic numerals and luminous hands stand against the black background, while the weekday at 12 o'clock and date at 6 o'clock each have their own space. That separation gives the watch a distinctive face without crowding the time display.

The round steel case keeps the surrounding detail simple. A broad, plain bezel frames the dial, and the oversized crown stands out at 3 o'clock without prominent crown guards. It is a recognisable part of the watch's Big Crown character.

Broad rectangular links carry the steel case's appearance through the bracelet. With its black dial and pale markings, this version keeps the colours straightforward and lets the numerals, calendar windows and crown define the design.

FUNCTIONS

You can read the time, weekday and date directly from the dial, with the crown handling calendar correction and time setting. When you pull it out to set the time, the seconds hand stops, allowing you to align the watch with a time reference before restarting it.

Inside, Oris calibre 635 winds through wrist movement and has a nominal power reserve of approximately 38 hours. You can also wind it manually. If it stops after being left unworn, wind it and reset the time and calendar before putting it back on.

Correct the calendar after months with fewer than 31 days. Before making a rapid calendar adjustment, move the hands forwards through midnight to 05:00, following Oris's general day-date guidance. Avoid rapid day or date correction between 21:00 and 03:00, because the calendar mechanism is engaged during that period.

ON THE WRIST

At a nominal 35mm across, this is the smaller original BC3, giving you a compact case with large numerals and a clearly separated calendar display. Consider this configuration if you prefer a smaller watch but still want those dial details to remain visually prominent.

The steel bracelet closes with a folding clasp and can be adjusted for size. When considering fit, check the bracelet's available length and the case diameter, since the bracelet determines whether you can fasten the watch at the size you need.

PRICE GUIDE

The BC3 collection dates to 1999, and this small-size version is discontinued. If you want a new Oris with automatic weekday and date displays on a steel bracelet, the current Big Crown ProPilot Big Day Date costs RM11,500 in Malaysia. Its 44mm case is substantially larger, and it comes with a grey dial.

Overseas pre-owned prices for black-dial, steel-bracelet BC3 7501 watches are approximately RM2,200–RM3,400, including historical advertised prices.
