A black mother-of-pearl dial pairs with diamond hour markers. Quartz power keeps everyday use straightforward, with no winding needed.
DESIGN
The black mother-of-pearl dial gives the TAG Heuer Aquaracer WAY131M.BA0748 its distinctive character. Eleven diamonds, totalling 0.104 carats, mark the hours, adding decoration within the watch's familiar sports-watch layout.
Around the dial, a black ceramic bezel insert continues the dark colour. This keeps the dial and bezel visually connected, while the silver-coloured steel case and bracelet provide a clear contrast.
Beyond the colours, the finishing varies too. The round case is polished, while the bracelet combines fine-brushed and polished surfaces. These details add variety to the steel exterior without drawing attention away from the mother-of-pearl and diamond markers.
FUNCTIONS
Quartz power keeps everyday operation simple: you don't need to wind the watch. The central hands show the hours, minutes, and seconds, and the date sits at 3 o'clock. The luminous hour and minute hands help you read the time in darker conditions. For battery life, TAG Heuer gives a general guide of approximately two to three years, depending on the watch type. Its general care advice also recommends avoiding date adjustment between 10 pm and 2 am.
The unidirectional rotating bezel adds an elapsed-time scale around the dial. It lets you track elapsed minutes alongside the standard time display, without a separate chronograph.
This Aquaracer originally carried a 300-metre water-resistance rating and has a screw-down steel crown. If you plan to use it in water, have its water resistance checked first. Seals age, and the original rating alone cannot tell you how well the watch resists water today.
ON THE WRIST
At 35mm across and 10.75mm thick, this Aquaracer offers a compact case alongside its steel bracelet. If you prefer a smaller watch but still want the rotating-bezel appearance, those proportions are worth considering.
The bracelet closes with a folding clasp secured by double safety push-buttons, and a diver extension provides additional length when needed. When checking fit, pay attention to both the bracelet size and the case dimensions; both affect how the watch sits on your wrist.
PRICE GUIDE
The WAY131M.BA0748 is discontinued. For a nearby option in today's collection, the Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph WBP1313.BA0005 has an official Malaysian retail price of RM13,900. It combines a steel bracelet with a diamond-set mother-of-pearl dial, using a slightly smaller 34mm case, a white dial and a solar-powered quartz movement.
Overseas secondary-market prices are approximately RM7,000–RM8,200, including watches advertised as new and pre-owned. This span includes out-of-stock offers.
