Description

A horizontally textured white dial gives this Aquaracer its distinct appearance. Its rotating bezel lets you keep track of elapsed minutes.

DESIGN

The white dial is what gives this TAG Heuer Aquaracer WAY2013.BA0927 its character. Horizontal lines add texture across the surface, while dark outlines around the hands and applied hour markers make them stand out against the light background.

Then there is the orange seconds hand. It adds a small touch of colour without taking over the dial, keeping your attention on the white-and-black contrast.

The steel bezel brings the surrounding design together. Its 60-minute scale sits within an uncoloured metal surface that connects naturally with the brushed and polished steel case and bracelet. The result is a predominantly silver watch with its strongest contrasts concentrated on the dial.

FUNCTIONS

Inside, the Calibre 5 automatic movement displays the time and date. Your wrist movement winds the mainspring, with a stated 38-hour reserve when fully wound. If the watch stops, unscrew the crown and wind it manually, then reset the displays. The crown has separate settings for date correction and time adjustment; screw it down again when you're finished.

You can use the bezel to keep track of elapsed minutes. Turn its zero marker into line with the minute hand when you begin, then read the time passed against the scale. The bezel turns only anticlockwise, so an accidental movement can make the indicated elapsed time longer.

Luminous hands and markers help you read the time in low light, and the magnifier at 3 o'clock enlarges the date. The original water-resistance rating is 300 metres. Before using the watch in water, have its current water resistance checked rather than relying on that original rating.

ON THE WRIST

At 43mm across and 12.55mm thick, this Aquaracer gives you a clear size reference when considering how it might fit. Those measurements alone cannot tell you how comfortable it will feel, so a try-on is useful if you are unsure about the size.

The steel bracelet closes with a folding push-button clasp and includes a diver extension for extra length. Its silver finish continues around the wrist, keeping the white dial, dark outlines and orange seconds hand as the main visual details. If that contrast is what attracts you to the watch, the original bracelet keeps the surrounding colour scheme simple.

PRICE GUIDE

Introduced in 2017, the Aquaracer WAY2013.BA0927 is now discontinued. If you are looking at a new Aquaracer today, the Professional 300 Date WBP5110.BA0013 costs RM18,700 at official Malaysian retail. It has a slightly smaller 42mm case, a black dial and ceramic bezel, and an automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve.

Overseas pre-owned prices are approximately RM7,300–RM9,400 for watches with the bracelet, box and papers. Lower prices around RM5,600–RM5,900 cover watches missing either the box or papers, including one advertised as unserviced.
