Titled The Most Brilliant Failure, the film tells the story of the Gérald Genta-designed Ingenieur SL, which was introduced in 1976. Blending historical events with a fictional storyline, it follows a green-dial Ingenieur SL as it passes through different owners over several decades.
The film revisits the watch's limited production run, its lack of commercial success during its original years, and its later rediscovery by collectors. It also draws a connection between the original Ingenieur SL and the modern Ingenieur collection.
